Dementia: Care Basics

Description

Dementia is a global term used to describe a group of symptoms caused by changes in the brain. It affects a growing number of people each year. This course will provide an overview of dementia, it's symptoms as well as common causes. Basic care techniques to address the challenges associated with dementia will also be discussed.

Delivery

This is a self-paced course with optional knowledge check quizzes after each lesson. These non-graded quizzes allow you to check your understanding of the lesson objectives before proceeding to the next lesson. After the final lesson you will be required to take the final exam. You must score 70% or higher to pass the course and obtain a certificate of completion.

Marilyn Chambers - MSN, RN (Author Originating)

Marilyn Chambers has been an associate professor and adjunct faculty member at Bethel University, St Paul, MN since 1983. Her areas of expertise are public health, home care, psych-mental health, and leadership. Marilyn has also been a consultant in home care and assisted living since 1995. She works closely with agencies and clinical staff on clinical nursing skills and services, documentation, regulatory compliance, professional and paraprofessional training on skills and compliance as well as serving as a mentor to new RNs, both in the director of nursing role and clinical case management.
