Legal Issues for the Personal Care Worker

There are many aspects related to the responsibility an employee has to his or her employer in order to be successful in the job and make sure the working relationship is a good one. Some of the responsibilities are related to state and federal rules and laws that the employer needs to follow. Other responsibilities are in place for the employee's safety and the safety and well-being of the patient. This course will review the responsibilities an employee has to his or her employer.
Delivery

This is a self-paced course with optional knowledge check quizzes after each lesson. These non-graded quizzes allow you to check your understanding of the lesson objectives before proceeding to the next lesson. After the final lesson you will be required to take the final exam. You must score 70% or higher to pass the course and obtain a certificate of completion.

  • Define ethics and etiquette for the personal care worker
  • List the patient's rights when receiving health care services
  • Describe the Vulnerable Adult Law
  • Explain the Patient Self-Determination Act
